Lucy Wray has been teaching drama for 17 years and, as well as being the creative director here at Schoolhouse ‘Arts’, currently works as a drama consultant for PiXL. She studied drama at Ripon and York St John University before completing her PGCE in Secondary drama at Durham University in 1999.

 

Lucy’s teaching career started at Nunthorpe School in Middlesbrough where she was soon promoted to the role of Head of Drama. Renowned for its outstanding outcomes, over 100 students were entered annually for GCSE Drama at Nunthorpe School with A*-C results that were consistently above 90%. Directed by Lucy, Nunthorpe School Youth Theatre Group regularly competed in the Shell Connections drama festival receiving many plaudits.

 

As a result of her continued success, Lucy also worked as; a drama consultant for Durham LEA, an exam moderator, an external examiner and a Team Leader for EDEXCEL GCSE DRAMA as well as delivering Lottery funded drama initiatives within a range of primary schools. Lucy has also taught for private theatre companies delivering LAMDA exams and preparing students for drama performances.
